Ottawa, 14 September 2004

AMENDMENT TO THE CALL FOR APPLICATIONS FOR A BROADCASTING LICENCE TO CARRY ON A FRENCH-LANGUAGE RADIO PROGRAMMING UNDERTAKING TO SERVE QUÉBEC, QUEBEC - BROADCASTING PUBLIC NOTICE CRTC 2004-49 DATED 13 JULY 2004.
THE COMMISSION ADDS THE FOLLOWING PARAGRAPH TO THE ABOVE-MENTIONED CALL:
The Federal Court of Appeal issued an Order to the Commission on 26 August 2004 to stay the call for applications for a broadcasting licence in Québec City, as it relates to applications proposing the use of the frequency 98.1 MHz. The stay is applicable until that Court's final judgement on the merits in the matter of the appeal filed by Genex communications inc. (Genex) from Broadcasting Decision CRTC 2004-271 of 13 July 2004, denying the application by Genex to renew its licence for the station CHOI-FM, Québec, Quebec. Consequently, this call for applications will relate only to radio applications that propose to use frequencies other than 98.1 MHz.
In order to allow applicants to take account of the present amendment, the Commission is extending to 29 October 2004 the deadline for submitting applications in response to the above-noted call for applications.
