Telecom Order CRTC 2004-433

  Ottawa, 21 December 2004

Société en commandite Télébec

  Reference: Tariff Notice 313

9-1-1 Public emergency reporting service

1.

The Commission received an application by Société en commandite Télébec (Télébec), dated 15 November 2004, to revise General Tariff item 3.5, 9-1-1 Public Emergency Reporting Service (PERS). Télébec proposed to charge Wireless Service Providers (WSPs) the 9-1-1 rate per working telephone number discounted by 50 percent as WSPs do not receive Automatic Location Identification functionality, and to charge Centrex customers the full 9-1-1 rate per telephone number.

2.

The Commission received no comments with respect to the application.

3.

In 9-1-1 Service - Rates for Wireless Service Providers, Centrex Customers and Multi-Line Customers/Manual Access to the Automatic Location Identification Database, Telecom Decision CRTC 99-17, 29 October 1999 (Decision 99-17), the Commission established a new rate structure for province-wide 9-1-1 service in order to effect cost recovery on a more equitable basis. The Commission notes that although Télébec is not subject to decision 99-17, it has chosen to implement the same changes to its 9-1-1 tariff as that of its parent company, Bell Canada.

4.

The Commission approves Télébec's application. The revisions take effect as of the date of this Order.
