Telecom Order CRTC 2004-338

  Ottawa, 6 October 2004

TELUS Communications Inc.

  Reference: Tariff Notice 154

Withdrawal of the High Capacity 45 Service in Alberta and British Columbia

The Commission received an application by TELUS Communications Inc. (TCI), dated 30 August 2004, to withdraw General Tariff item 509, High Capacity 45 Service.

High Capacity 45 Service provides for unchannelized interexchange point-to-point digital facility at 44.736 Mbps between the rate centre of designated exchanges or between the rate centre of a designated exchange and a U.S. border crossing.

TCI stated that there are no customers for the service. The company submitted that, as an alternative, customers can subscribe to TCI's Inter-Office Digital Channels service which provides for unchannelized interexchange point-to-point digital facility at 44.736 Mbps or other data offerings from TCI or other competitors.

The Commission received no comments with respect to the application.

The Commission approves TCI's application. The revisions take effect as of the date of this order.
