  Ottawa, 6 October 2004

TELUS Communications Inc.

Reference: TCI Tariff Notice 152, former TCI Tariff Notice 536, and TCBC Tariff Notice 4218

Megastream and Megaplan services

1.

The Commission received applications by TELUS Communications Inc. (TCI), dated 30 August 2004, to revise the following TCI's General Tariff items in order to no longer provide services to new customers in Alberta and British Columbia (B.C.):

  • Megastream service
    - Alberta: item 707 of the former TCI General Tariff CRTC 18001
    - B.C.: item 437 of TCBC General Tariff CRTC 1005

  • Enhanced Service Extension Feature (ESEF)
    - item 506.3.2 of TCI's General Tariff CRTC 21461

2.

TCI submitted that existing customers would continue to order new installations, change of address, moves, rearrangements or additions to existing installations. TCI noted that the total number of customers subscribing to the Megastream service and the number of new customers for that service had been declining. TCI further noted that alternatives to the service are available.

3.

TCI also proposed to change the name of the Megastream service to Managed Digital Private Line service, in the following TCI's tariffs:

- Alberta: item 707, General Tariff CRTC 18001
- B.C.: item 437, General Tariff CRTC 1005

4.

TCI also proposed to change the name of the Megaplan Service Extension Access service to Digital Private Line Service Extension Access service in the following TCI's tariffs:

- Alberta: item 709, General Tariff CRTC 18001
- B.C.: item 446, General Tariff CRTC 1005

5.

The company further proposed to make non-material changes that will have no impact on rates or services provided.

6.

The Commission received no comments with respect to the applications.

7.

The Commission approves TCI's applications. The revisions take effect as of the date of this order.
