Telecom Order CRTC 2004-24

  Ottawa, 15 January 2004

Northwestel Inc.

  Reference: Tariff Notice 800

Digital high-speed satellite circuit

1.

The Commission received an application by Northwestel Inc. (Northwestel), dated 18 November 2003, in order to introduce item 751, Digital High-Speed Satellite Circuit, to its Special Services Tariff.

2.

Northwestel indicated that this special assembly was developed to provide a dedicated high-speed satellite circuit for a specific customer from a customer location within Northwestel's operating area to a location in southern Canada. Northwestel stated that it does not expect another customer to use the exact same service elements.

3.

The Commission received no comments with respect to the application.

4.

The Commission notes that minor wording changes are required to the tariff page to more accurately describe the routing of the traffic and the provision of power.

5.

The Commission directs that the proposed tariff revisions be modified to replace the wording "a location in southern Canada" with "a teleport in southern Canada. The customer provides AC power at its site in Northwestel territory."

6.

In light of the above, the Commission approves with changes Northwestel's application. The revisions take effect as of the date of this order.
