Telecom Order CRTC 2004-173

  Ottawa, 27 May 2004

The Corporation of the Town of Cochrane Municipal Telephone System

Reference: Tariff Notices 42 and 42A

Directory assistance and corporate name change

1.

The Commission received an application by The Corporation of the Town of Cochrane Municipal Telephone System (Cochrane), formerly Cochrane Public Utilities Commission, dated 30 March 2004 and amended on 21 April 2004, to revise item 7, Charge for Information Service (Directory Assistance), under section 140 of its General Tariff in order to increase its directory assistance charge from $0.60 to $0.75.

2.

Cochrane further requested approval to remove the waiving of administration charges on the sign up to a call management services package from item 12.14 of section 490 of its General Tariff. The company also requested approval of new codes at section 30, Codes and Symbols, of its General Tariff.

3.

Cochrane noted that the Commission approved a directory assistance charge of $0.75 for NorthernTel Limited Partnership in Order CRTC 2001-581, 26 July 2001.

4.

In addition, Cochrane informed the Commission that it had changed the name of the company to The Corporation of the Town of Cochrane Municipal Telephone System.

5.

The Commission received no comments with respect to the application.

6.

In Regulatory framework for the small incumbent telephone companies, Decision CRTC 2001-756, 14 December 2001, the Commission assigned the service in question to the fourth price cap service basket. In that decision, the Commission determined that the rate for such a service would generally be permitted to increase up to any already approved rate for the same service.

7.

The Commission approves Cochrane's application. The revisions take effect as of the date of this order.

8.

Cochrane is to issue revised tariff pages forthwith to reflect these changes.
