Telecom Order CRTC 2004-112

  Ottawa, 8 April 2004

O.N.Telcom

  Reference: Tariff Notice 107

Call Answer service/voice mail

1.

The Commission received an application by O.N.Telcom, dated 12 February 2004, to revise item 2491, Call Answer Service/Voice Mail, under section 15 of its General Tariff in order to:

  • increase the monthly rates for Call Answer service applicable to business customers from $5.00 to $10.00, and to residence customers from $5.00 to $7.00; and

  • increase the monthly rates for Voice Mail applicable to business customers from $7.50 to $15.00, and to residence customers from $7.50 to $10.00.

2.

O.N.Telcom also proposed to revise General Tariff section 820 of the former Abitibi-Consolidated Telephone System in order to introduce Call Answer service/Voice Mail, as follows:

  • Call Answer service for residential and business customers at a monthly rate of $7.00 and $10.00 respectively;

  • Voice Mail for residential and business customers at a monthly rate of $10.00 and $15.00 respectively;

  • Sub-Mailbox Option for residential and business customers at a monthly rate of $2.50;

  • Remote Notification for residential and business customers at a monthly rate of $1.00; and

  • Passcode Reset at a service charge of $10.00.

3.

The Commission received no comments with respect to the application.

4.

In Regulatory framework for the small incumbent telephone companies, Decision CRTC 2001-756, 14 December 2001 (Decision 2001-756), the Commission assigned the services in question to the fourth price cap service basket. In that decision, the Commission determined that rates for such services would generally be permitted to increase up to any already approved rate for the same service.

5.

The Commission finds that the proposed rates are equal to or less than rates previously approved for similar services provided by other companies.

6.

The Commission approves O.N.Telcom's application. The revisions take effect as of the date of this order.

7.

O.N.Telcom is to issue revised tariff pages forthwith to reflect these changes.
