TELUS Communications Inc.'s PIC/CARE access customer handbook

1.

The Commission received an application by TELUS Communications Inc. (TCI), dated 13 January 2004 and amended on 2 February 2004, in order to reflect the amalgamation and replacement of the following former handbooks:
 
  • ILEC operation in Alberta: Former TCI PIC/CARE Access Customer Handbook (Version 2.2);
 
  • ILEC operation in B.C.: TCBC/BCTEL PIC/CARE Access Customer Handbook (Version 2.3); and
 
  • CLEC operations outside of Alberta and B.C.: TIC PIC/CARE Access Customer Handbook (Version 1).

TCI's Primary Interexchange Carrier/Customer Account Record Exchange (PIC/CARE) Access Customer Handbook would provide interexchange carriers (IXCs) with information relating to the exchange of PIC/CARE information between an IXC and TCI.

The Commission received no comments with respect to the application.

The handbook is based on the most recent version of the Model PIC/CARE Access Customer Handbook, version 3.0. The handbook provides the necessary information with respect to PIC processing and is consistent with handbooks filed by other telephone companies.

In July 2000, the CRTC Interconnection Steering Committee (CISC) Business Process Working Group developed a model PIC/CARE handbook (CISC model), which was updated in July 2003, for use by the telecommunications industry.

The Commission approves TCI's application. The revisions take effect as of the 1 July 2004.
