  Reference: Tariff Notice 107

Centrex Call Center Service

1.

The Commission received an application by Aliant Telecom Inc. (Aliant Telecom), dated 10 October 2003, to introduce item 215.5, Centrex Call Center Service, to its General Tariff. The company proposed to consolidate the call center tariffs from its former constituent companies in this new item. This results in the proposed removal or modification of existing tariff items as follows:

  • remove NBTel Inc.'s (NBTel) General Tariff items 170 and 174;

  • remove NewTel Communications Inc.'s (NewTel) General Tariff item 196;

  • modify Maritime Tel & Tel Limited's General Tariff items 530(b), 760.1(cc), 780.4(j), 790(e), (e.1), (f), (f.1), (j) and (n), 960.1(y), 975.4(c), 980(e), (e.1), (f), (f.1) and (k);

  • modify NBTel's General Tariff items 80.2.B, 80.2.C, 165.2 and 165.3;

  • modify NewTel's General Tariff items 190.2(c) and 194.3; and

  • modify Island Telecom Inc.'s General Tariff items 370.1(b), 695.1(z), 698.5(f) and 699(g), (h) and (m).

2.

Aliant Telecom also proposed to increase the service charge for DMS Data Stream to $1300 from $450 in the provinces of New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island and from the standard service charge (S.S.C.) in Nova Scotia to align the charge with the existing rate in Newfoundland and Labrador. The S.S.C. for DMS Data Stream was time and charges for work performed. The company also proposed to correct a number of errors in the tariffs to be transferred.

3.

Aliant Telecom also proposed to change the names of services for some of the provinces to have consistent names for the services throughout Aliant Telecom's territory. Coincident with this consolidation of tariffs, the company also proposed to make other changes of a non material nature.

4.

The Commission received no comments with respect to the application.

5.

Centrex Call Center Service is currently categorized as an uncapped service and as such, it is not subject to the price constraints pursuant to Regulatory framework for second price cap period, Telecom Decision CRTC 2002-34, 30 May 2002.

6.

The Commission approves Aliant Telecom's application. The revisions take effect as of the date of this order.
