Mr. James Quail Dear Mr. Quail: Re: 3 June 2004 Amended Application and Complaint Telus Communications Inc. - Violation of General Terms of Service Item 16.1, Telephone Directories and Part VII Application Telus Communications Inc. - General Terms of Service Item 16.1, Telephone Directories This letter deals with two Part VII applications filed by British Columbia Old Age Pensioners' Organization, Council of Senior Citizens' Organizations of BC, Federated Anti-Poverty Groups of BC, Senior Citizens' Association of BC, End Legislated Poverty and Tenant Rights Action Coalition (BCOAPO et al.) against Telus Communications Inc. (TCI). The first application, dated 3 June 2004 , relates to a complaint by BCOAPO et al. that TCI was in violation of General Terms of Service Item 16.1, Telephone Directories. BCOAPO et al.'s request in a letter dated 21 July 2004 , to withdraw the 3 June 2004 Amended Application and Complaint against TCI is accepted. The second application filed by BCOAPO et al., dated 15 June 2004 , pertains to a request that TCI be directed to amend General Terms of Service Item 16.1, Telephone Directories. In TELUS Québec v. Bell Canada - Québec City telephone directory listings , Telecom Decision CRTC 2004-14, 1 March 2004 (Decision 2004-14), the Commission denied an application by TELUS Communications (Québec) Inc. (TELUS Québec) requesting that the Commission order Bell Canada to resume publishing in Bell Canada's White Pages telephone directory for Québec City at no charge the subscribers' listing for five TELUS Québec exchanges located near Québec City. In that decision, the Commission noted that no Commission determinations would require a company to obtain the Commission's approval to rationalize its directories. The Commission further concluded that the company had not contravened its regulatory obligations in that case. In view of the Commission's determination in Decision 2004-14 with respect to directory rationalization and that BCOAPO et al.'s application, dated 15 June 2004, similarly made a request to overturn a directory rationalization in the Greater Vancouver area, the 15 June 2004 application is considered to be moot. Therefore, the file will be closed. Sincerely yours, Original signed by S. Hutton
