Subject: CRTC Telecommunications Industry Data Collection

Sir or Madam

Telecom Circular CRTC 2003-1, issued 11 December 2003, provided notification of administrative changes that the Commission will implement to better coordinate and streamline a number of activities it undertakes in order to regulate and monitor the Canadian telecommunications industry. As noted in the circular, the data collection process is a two stage process; stage one relates to the issuance and completion of Reporting Entity Profiles (REP) form while stage two relates to the issuance and collection of detailed data collection forms related to maintaining and updating telecommunications entity registration lists, international licences, telecommunications fees, the contribution regime and the monitoring of the telecommunications industry.

The circular also required all telecommunications entities to appoint a response manager who would be responsible for managing the form completion process on behalf of the entity. Recently, each response manager was contacted and provided with a user id and password to access the various data collection modules.

This letter is to notify you that stage one (i.e., the REP form) is now operational and can be accessed by the response manager at http://www.crtc.gc.ca/eng/dcs/2004/index.htm.   To assist the response manager, useful information will be found on the CRTC web site in the form of news items, a reporting guide, a list of frequently asked questions (FAQs) and a glossary of frequently used terms.
