Broadcasting Decision CRTC 2004-546

  Ottawa, 13 December 2004
3937844 Canada Inc., a subsidiary of Newcap Inc.
Blairmore, Alberta and Elkford, British Columbia
  Application 2004-0524-2
Broadcasting Public Notice CRTC 2004-74
5 October 2004

CJPR-FM Blairmore - New transmitter in Elkford

1.

The Commission approves the application by 3937844 Canada Inc. (3937844), a subsidiary of Newcap Inc., to amend the broadcasting licence for the radio programming undertaking CJPR-FM Blairmore, in order to operate an AM transmitter in Elkford.

2.

The new transmitter will operate at 1,340 kHz with a transmitter power of 50 watts day-time and night-time.

3.

The Commission did not receive any interventions in connection with this application.

4.

The Commission notes that the Elkford transmitter was previously licensed to rebroadcast the AM signal of CJPR Blairmore, for which the Commission approved a conversion to the FM band in CJPR Blairmore - Conversion to FM band, Broadcasting Decision CRTC 2002-379, 21 November 2002.

5.

Given that the technical parameters approved in this decision are for a low-power unprotected AM service, the Commission reminds the applicant that it will have to select another frequency if the Department of Industry so requires.
