CITY-DT Toronto - Technical change

1. The Commission approves the application by CHUM Limited (CHUM) to change the authorized contours of the transitional digital television undertaking CITY-DT Toronto, by decreasing the average effective radiated power (ERP) from 1,300 watts to 1,200 watts.
2. In CITY-DT Toronto - Technical change, Broadcasting Decision CRTC 2004-163, 23 April 2004, the Commission approvedan the application by CHUM to change the authorized contours of CITY-DT Toronto, by increasing the average ERP from 600 watts to 1,300 watts.
3. The Department of Industry (the Department) has advised CHUM that the maximum ERP approved by the Commission exceeded maximum equivalent parameters for a Class C UHF DTV station. As a result, the ERP had to be reduced.
4. The Commission reminds the licensee that, pursuant to section 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act, this authority will only be effective when the Department notifies the Commission that its technical requirements have been met, and that a broadcasting certificate will be issued.
