Revocation of licence - Exempted cable broadcasting distribution undertakings that serve between 2,000 and 6,000 subscribers

In Exemption order respecting cable broadcasting distribution undertakings that serve between 2,000 and 6,000 subscribers; and Amendment to the Broadcasting Distribution Regulations, Broadcasting Public Notice CRTC 2004-39, 14 June 2004 (Public Notice 2004-39), the Commission announced its determination to exempt from licensing requirements and associated regulations those cable broadcasting distribution undertakings that serve between 2,000 and 6,000 subscribers and meet certain other criteria set out in the exemption orderattached to that notice. The Commission invited those licensees wishing to avail themselves of the benefits of exemption to submit an application for the revocation of their licences.

Quebecor Media Inc. (Quebecor), on behalf of its wholly-owned subsidiaries Vidéotron ltée and Videotron (Regional) Ltd., has confirmed its eligibility for exemption and has requested that its licences be revoked for the above-mentioned locations.

Given Quebecor's request, the Commission revokes, pursuant to sections 9(1)(e) and 24(1) of the Broadcasting Act, the broadcasting licences issued to Vidéotron ltée and to Videotron (Regional) Ltd., for the undertakings serving Cabano, Dolbeau, La Malbaie and Mont-Laurier, Quebec.

The Commission reminds the operators of these undertakings that they must, at all times, comply with the criteria contained in the exemption order attached to Public Notice 2004-39.
