Telecom Order CRTC 2003-465

  Ottawa, 20 November 2003

Bell Canada

  Reference: Tariff Notice 6774

Withdrawal of the service-system service

1.

The Commission received an application by Bell Canada, dated 14 October 2003, to withdraw General Tariff item 1190, Service-System Service, as there are no customers for the service.

2.

Bell Canada submitted that the service had been used mainly by small independent telephone companies whose exchange networks did not stretch to cover all the customers within their exchange territory. Bell Canada also submitted that these independent telephone companies have been able to provide service to these customers in a more cost effective manner, which has rendered Service-System Service obsolete.

3.

The Commission received no comments with respect to the application.

4.

The Commission approves Bell Canada's application. The revisions take effect as of the date of this order.
