Telecom Order CRTC 2003-432

  Ottawa, 28 October 2003

Huron Telecommunications Co-operative Limited

  Reference: Tariff Notice 25

Call answer service

1.

The Commission received an application by Huron Telecommunications Co-operative Limited (HuronTel), dated 25 August 2003, to revise General Tariff section 820, Call Answer Service, in order to increase the monthly rates for the following services:

  • Call Answering - Basic Residential from $2.95 to $4.95; and

  • Call Answering - Basic Business from $4.95 to $6.95.

2.

HuronTel submitted that the proposed rates are less than the rates charged for similar services approved by the Commission for Bell Canada in Integrated voice messaging service - Message Link, Telecom Order CRTC 2002-200, 16 May 2002.

3.

In Regulatory framework for the small incumbent telephone companies, Decision CRTC 2001-756, 14 December 2001 (Decision 2001-756), the Commission assigned the services in question to the fourth price cap service basket. In that decision, the Commission determined that rates for such services would generally be permitted to increase up to any already approved rate for the same service.

4.

The Commission finds that the proposed rates were previously approved by the Commission for the same services provided by other companies and, therefore, are in accordance with Decision 2001-756.

5.

The Commission received no comments with respect to the application.

6.

The Commission approves HuronTel's application. The revisions take effect as of the date of this order.

7.

HuronTel is to issue a revised tariff page forthwith to reflect these changes.
