Aliant Telecom Inc.

Enhanced consumer access

The Commission received an application by Aliant Telecom Inc. (Aliant Telecom), dated 2 May 2003 and amended on 8 May 2003, to add item 300.1, Enhanced Consumer Access, to its General Tariff. Enhanced consumer access is a new service available in New Brunswick and Newfoundland and Labrador at a monthly rate of $36.00.

Aliant Telecom stated that the proposed service consists of residential network exchange service and a choice of up to seven of the following calling features: 3-Way Calling; Call Answer (New Brunswick); Basic Residence Mailbox (Newfoundland and Labrador); Enhanced Residence Mailbox (Newfoundland and Labrador); Call Display; Name Display (New Brunswick); Call Display - Name and Number (Newfoundland and Labrador); Call Forwarding; Call Return (busy/missed call); Call Waiting; Visual Call Waiting (Newfoundland and Labrador); Distinctive Ring and Speed Calling.

Aliant Telecom proposed to categorize the service as a residential optional service to be included in the high cost serving area and non-high cost serving area residential optional services baskets, consistent with paragraph 398 of Regulatory framework for second price cap period, Telecom Decision CRTC 2002-34, 30 May 2002.

The Commission received no comments with respect to the application.

The Commission approves Aliant Telecom's application. The revisions take effect as of the date of this order.
