Telecom Order CRTC 2003-279

  Ottawa, 9 July 2003

Thunder Bay Telephone

  Reference: Tariff Notice 105

Toll Denial Service

1.

The Commission received an application by Thunder Bay Telephone, dated 27 May 2003, to revise item 17, Toll Management Service, under section TB490 of its General Tariff in order to revise its Toll Denial Service as follows:

· increase the monthly per line rate for Toll Denial and Toll Denial Trunk, from $1.90 to $3.80;

· introduce the monthly per line rate of $3.80 for Collect Call Denial and Third Number Denial;

· introduce a set-up charge of $10.00 for Toll Denial, per line; and

· introduce a service charge of $40.00 for Toll Denial, Collect Call Denial and Third Number Denial, per line.

2.

The Commission received no comments with respect to the application.

3.

In Regulatory framework for the small incumbent telephone companies, Decision CRTC 2001-756, 14 December 2001 (Decision 2001-756), the Commission grouped services into four separate service baskets, each with their own pricing constraints. In that decision, the Commission assigned the services in question to the fourth service basket.

4.

The Commission notes that in Decision 2001-756, it determined that rates for services in the fourth service basket would generally be permitted to increase up to any already approved rate for the same service.

5.

The Commission notes that the proposed rates were previously approved by the Commission for the same services provided by other companies and, therefore, are in accordance with Decision 2001-756.

6.

Accordingly, the Commission considers the rates proposed by Thunder Bay Telephone to be appropriate.

7.

The Commission approves Thunder Bay Telephone's application. The revisions take effect as of the date of this order.

8.

Thunder Bay Telephone is to issue revised tariff pages forthwith to reflect these changes.
