Telecom Order CRTC 2003-265

  Ottawa, 4 July 2003

Le Téléphone de St-Éphrem inc.

  Reference: Tariff Notice 24

Expansion of local calling areas

The Commission received an application by Le Téléphone de St-Éphrem inc. (St-Éphrem), dated 16 May 2003, to include in its General Tariff item 2.1, Primary Exchange Service and Extended Area Service, the general principles and criteria for the expansion of local calling areas.

In Framework for the expansion of local calling areas, Telecom Decision CRTC 2002-56, 12 September 2002 (Decision 2002-56), the Commission established the principles for expanding local calling areas. Although the Commission did not require that the principles, criteria and process established in Decision 2002-56 be included in the incumbent local exchange carriers' General Tariff, the Commission does not consider St-Éphrem's proposal to be inappropriate.

The Commission received no comments with respect to the application.

The Commission notes however that in Decision 2002-56, it made some preliminary determinations. Accordingly, the Commission directs St-Éphrem, in the event that the preliminary determinations are revised as a result of the follow-up proceeding, to file proposed tariff pages to reflect the modifications.

The Commission approves St-Éphrem's application. The revisions take effect as of the date of this order.

St-Éphrem is to issue revised tariff pages forthwith to reflect these changes.
