Digital Network Access services
1.
The Commission received an application by Prince Rupert City Telephones (CityTel), dated 8 May 2003, to revise item D, Digital Network Access - Rates, under section 8 of its General Tariff in order to introduce Channel DS-1 feature and DS-3 Digital Network Access service.
2.
Digital Network Access is furnished for the digital transmission of information at speeds of less than 1.544 Mbps, DS-1 or DS-3 from customer's premises to the rate centre to connect with long distance carriers designated network services.
3.
The Commission received no comments with respect to the application.
4.
The Commission notes that in Regulatory framework for the small incumbent telephone companies, Decision CRTC 2001-756, 14 December 2001 (Decision 2001-756), it assigned the services in question to the fourth price cap service basket. In that decision, the Commission determined that rates for such services would generally be permitted to increase up to any already approved rate for the same service.
5.
The Commission finds that the proposed rates were previously approved by the Commission for the same services provided by other companies and, therefore, are in accordance with Decision 2001-756.
6.
The Commission approves CityTel's application. The revisions take effect as of the date of this order.
7.
CityTel is to issue a revised tariff page forthwith to reflect these changes.
