Telecom Order CRTC 2003-215

  Ottawa, 29 May 2003

Kenora Municipal Telephone System

  Reference: Tariff Notice 30

Centrex service

1.

The Commission received an application by Kenora Municipal Telephone System (KMTS), dated 11 April 2003, to revise item 1, Centrex Service, under section 210 of its General Tariff in order to increase the monthly rates for the Centrex systems having less than 100 lines by $2.65 per line and to increase the monthly rates for the Centrex systems having more than 100 lines by $1.00 per line.

2.

KMTS also noted that the proposed rate increases would make the rates compensatory and would move the rates closer to those in other jurisdictions within the Northwest Ontario region.

3.

The Commission notes that in Regulatory framework for the small incumbent telephone companies, Decision CRTC 2001-756, 14 December 2001 (Decision 2001-756), it assigned the services in question to the fourth price cap service basket. In that decision, the Commission determined that rates for such services would generally be permitted to increase up to any already approved rate for the same service.

4.

The Commission finds that the proposed rates were previously approved by the Commission for the same services provided by other companies and, therefore, are in accordance with Decision 2001-756.

5.

The Commission received no comments with respect to the application.

6.

The Commission approves KMTS's application. The revisions take effect as of 1 June 2003.

7.

KMTS is to issue a revised tariff page forthwith to reflect this change.
