Telecom Order CRTC 2003-132

Ottawa, 31 March 2003

NorthernTel Limited Partnership

Reference: Tariff Notice 186

Elimination of the Opishing Lake exchange

1.

The Commission received an application by NorthernTel Limited Partnership (NorthernTel), dated 17 February 2003, to revise item 4.02 under section N100 of its General Tariff in order to reflect the elimination of the Opishing Lake exchange which currently overlaps with the Timmins exchange.

2.

NorthernTel indicated that the Opishing Lake exchange was created as a temporary exchange in response to requests for service by customers prior to the completion of the company's service improvement plan (SIP). NorthernTel further indicated that completion of its SIP permitted customers residing in that exchange to be served by the Timmins exchange, creating an overlap in service areas.

3.

NorthernTel noted that its Opishing Lake exchange customers would not experience any rate increase although this proposal represented a change from rate group 3 to rate group 8 since both rate groups charge the same rate for primary exchange service.

4.

The Commission received no comments with respect to the application.

5.

The Commission approves NorthernTel's application. The revision takes effect as of the date of this order.

6.

NorthernTel is to issue a revised tariff page forthwith to reflect this change.
