Telecom Order CRTC 2003-116

Ottawa, 20 March 2003

Dryden Municipal Telephone System

Reference: Tariff Notice 21

9-1-1 Public emergency reporting service

1.

The Commission received an application by Dryden Municipal Telephone System (Dryden MTS), dated 24 December 2002, to introduce items 7 and 8, 9-1-1 Public Emergency Reporting Service, under section 100 of its General Tariff, in order to provide services at the following monthly rates:

- $0.28 for each primary exchange service, Centrex III and each DS-0 connected to the public switched telephone network (PSTN), which are equipped for outward local calling; and
- $0.14 for each wireless service provider per wireless working telephone number (WTN) equipped for outward calling.

2.

The Commission notes that Bell Canada provides Dryden MTS' 9-1-1 Public Emergency Reporting Service (9-1-1) on Dryden MTS' behalf. Accordingly, the Commission considers that Dryden MTS' 9-1-1 service rates should be identical to the rates approved for Bell Canada.

3.

The Commission also notes that in Telecom Order CRTC 2003-13, 9 January 2003, Bell Canada's 9-1-1 monthly rates were reduced to $0.21 per access line or Centrex WTN and to $0.105 per wireless service provider WTN.

4.

The Commission received no comments with respect to the application.

5.

In light of the above, the Commission approves Dryden MTS' application with the following changes:

- a monthly rate of $0.21 for each primary exchange service, each Centrex III local and for Digital Network Access service, each DS-0 connected to the PSTN, which are equipped for outward local calling; and
- a monthly rate of $0.105 for each wireless service providers per wireless WTN equipped for outward calling.

6.

The revisions take effect as of the date of this order.

7.

Dryden MTS is to issue revised tariff pages forthwith to reflect these changes.
