Broadcasting Decision CRTC 2003-595

  Ottawa, 3 December 2003
  Radio 1540 Limited
Ottawa, Ontario and Gatineau, Quebec
  Application 2003-1041-7

CJLL-FM Ottawa/Gatineau - Technical change

1.

The Commission approves the application by Radio 1540 Limited to increase the effective radiated power of the radio programming undertaking CJLL-FM Ottawa/Gatineau, from 800 watts to 6,770 watts, and to change the authorized contours.

2.

The Commission notes that, as a result of a relocation of the transmitter from Camp Fortune,Quebec to Place de Ville, Tower C, in Ottawa, Ontario, the authorized contours will shift to the south-east. Also, due to a lower antenna height at the Ottawa site, there will be no change in the overall coverage area of the station.

3.

The Department of Industry (the Department) has advised the Commission that, while this application is conditionally technically acceptable, it will only issue a broadcasting certificate when it has determined that the proposed technical parameters will not create any unacceptable interference with aeronautical NAV/COM services.

4.

The Commission reminds the licensee that, pursuant to section 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act, this authority will only be effective when the Department notifies the Commission that its technical requirements have been met, and that a broadcasting certificate will be issued.
