CJSE-FM Shediac and its transmitter CJSE-FM-1 Memramcook - Licence renewal

1.

The Commission renews the broadcasting licence for the Type B community radio programming undertaking CJSE-FM Shediac and its transmitter CJSE-FM-1 Memramcook, from 1 September 2003 to 31 August 2010.

2.

The Commission did not receive any interventions in connection with this application.

3.

The licence will be subject to the conditions set out in New licence form for community radio stations, Public Notice CRTC 2000-157, 16 November 2000, as well as to the following conditions of licence:
  1. The licensee shall devote, during each broadcast week, at least 4.5% of its musical selections to material from category 3 (special interest music).
  2. The licensee shall devote, during each broadcast week, a maximum of 75% of its musical selections to material from subcategory 21 (popular, rock and dance music).
  3. The licensee shall devote, during each broadcast week, a minimum of 34% of all musical selections to English-language vocal selections.
  4. The licensee shall devote, during each broadcast week, a minimum of 1% of all musical selections to vocal musical selections in Aboriginal languages.

4.

The Commission considers that community radio stations should be particularly sensitive to employment equity issues in order to reflect fully the communities they serve. It encourages the licensee to consider these issues in its hiring practices and in all other aspects of its management of human resources.
