CKER-FM Edmonton - Licence renewal

The Commission renews the broadcasting licence for the ethnic radio programming undertaking CKER-FM Edmonton, from 1 September 2003 to 31 August 2010.

The Commission did not receive any interventions in connection with this application.

The licence will be subject to the conditions set out in New licence form for commercial radio stations, Public Notice CRTC 1999-137, 24 August 1999, as well as to the following conditions of licence:
  • The licensee shall broadcast during each broadcast week of the licence term, ethnic programming directed towards not less than 19 distinct ethnic groups, in not less than 19 different languages.
  • The licensee shall devote not less than 84 hours 30 minutes during each broadcast week of the licence term, to the broadcasting of ethnic programming of Types A and B as set out in the Radio Regulations, 1986.

Because this licensee is subject to the Employment Equity Act and files reports concerning employment equity with Human Resources Development Canada, its employment equity practices are not examined by the Commission.
