CFMX-FM-1 Toronto and its transmitter CFMX-FM Cobourg - Licence renewal

1.

The Commission renews the broadcasting licence for the radio programming undertaking CFMX-FM-1 Toronto and its transmitter CFMX-FM Cobourg, from 1 September 2003 to 31 August 2010.

The Commission did not receive any interventions in connection with this application.
3. The licence will be subject to the conditions set out in New licence form for commercial radio stations, Public Notice CRTC 1999-137, 24 August 1999, as well as the following conditions of licence:
 

1. The licensee is authorized to use Subsidiary Communications Multiplex Operations (SCMO) channels for the purpose of distributing a commercial Tamil-language service and a commercial Persian-language service, produced by Radio Sedaye Iran.

 

2. The licensee shall devote, in each broadcast week, a minimum of 10% of its musical selections from content category 2 to Canadian selections broadcast in their entirety and schedule these Canadian selections in a reasonable manner throughout each broadcast day.

4. The Commission reminds the licensee that it must continue to fulfil the commitments related to the development of Canadian talent set out in Acquisition of assets, Decision CRTC 98-206, 7 July 1998, in which the Commission approved the application by Trumar Communications Inc. to acquire the assets of CFMX-FM-1 Toronto and CFMX-FM Cobourg from Martin Rosenthal. The Commission also encourages the licensee, during the new licence term, to continue its efforts to support, develop and provide on-air exposure of local and regional talent.
5. In accordance with Implementation of an employment equity policy, Public Notice CRTC 1992-59, 1 September 1992, the Commission encourages the licensee to consider employment equity issues in its hiring practices and in all other aspects of its management of human resources.
