Acquisition of assets of the radiocommunication distribution undertaking serving Horse Camp Hill

The Commission received an application by Phil Wintemute, Telecommunications Manager, Department of Highways and Public Works, Government of Yukon, and his successors1 to the position (Phil Wintemute) for authority to acquire the assets of the radiocommunication distribution undertaking (RDU) serving Horse Camp Hill from The Beaver Creek Community Club, and for a broadcasting licence to continue the operation of this undertaking.

The Beaver Creek Community Club currently operates the undertaking, which distributes the programs of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) Radio One English-language AM radio network service received via satellite from CFWH Whitehorse, at 93.3 MHz (channel 227A1), with an effective radiated power of 188.6 watts.

The Commission did not receive any interventions in connection with this application.

The Commission approves the application by Phil Wintemute for authority to acquire the assets of the RDU serving Horse Camp Hill, and for a broadcasting licence to continue the operation of the undertaking.

The Commission will only issue the licence once the vendor has surrendered the current licence to the Commission.

The licence will expire on 31 August 2003, the current expiry date. It will be subject to the same terms and conditions as those in effect under the current licence.

In accordance with Implementation of an employment equity policy, Public Notice CRTC& 1992-59, 1 September 1992, the Commission encourages the licensee to consider employment equity issues in its hiring practices and in all other aspects of its management of human resources.
