The Commission has received the following application:

Application by the CANADIAN BROADCASTING CORPORATION, on behalf of 3899071 Canada Inc., to amend the licence of the Category 1 nationaldigital specialty television programming service known as Country Canada.

The licensee proposes to add conditions of licence relating to the keeping of separate accounts as of 31 August 2004:

1. The licensee shall keep separate accounts, which set out for each fiscal year ending 31 August;

a) The gross revenues of its operations under this license; and

b) The amounts expended by it on the acquisition of, and/or the investment in, Canadian programs intended for distribution on the undertaking, including a breakout of the amount expended for closed captioning and/or signing for the deaf and hearing-impaired of programs distributed on the news and information service.

2. The licensee shall file with the Commission, on or before 30 November of each year, a statement of the accounts referred to in the preceding condition of licence.

3. The licensee proposes to amend the conditions of licence pertaining to the broadcasting of Canadian programs during the broadcast day and the evening broadcast period as follows:

2003-2004: from a minimum of 55% to a minimum of 70% Canadian content.

2004-2005: from a minimum of 55% to a minimum of 75% Canadian content.

2005-2006: from a minimum of 60% to a minimum of 75% Canadian content.

2006-2007: from a minimum of 60% to a minimum of 80% Canadian content.

This application is a result of application 2002-0647-6 by Corus Entertainment Inc., submitted on behalf of 3899071 Canada Inc., to transfer its shares in Country Canada to the CBC.

Application 2002-0647-6 is approved in Decision CRTC 2002-336 dated 24 October 2002.
