Telecom Order CRTC 2002-446

Ottawa, 2 December 2002

MTS Communications Inc.

Reference: Tariff Notice 486

Marine radiotelephone service

1.

The Commission received an application by MTS Communications Inc. (MTS), dated 23 October 2002, to withdraw item 2700, Marine Radiotelephone Service, from its General Tariff as there are no customers for this service.

2.

MTS noted that Marine Radiotelephone Service provides the capability for lake vessels to connect their marine radios with the public switched telephone network.

3.

In its application, MTS submitted that there is no demand anticipated for the service because more modern services that are comparably priced are available from other suppliers of marine communications services.

4.

The Commission received no comments with respect to the application.

5.

The Commission approves MTS's application. The revisions take effect as of the date of this order.
