Telecom Order CRTC 2002-251

Ottawa, 28 June 2002

TELUS Communications Inc.
Reference: Tariff notice 480

Personal auto-dial alarm system

The Commission received an application by TELUS Communications Inc. (TCI), dated 11 January 2002, to revise the former TCI General Tariff in order to withdraw item 180, Personal Auto-Dial Alarm System (PADAS).

PADAS, a medical monitoring service involving a customer-provided medical emergency alarm-signaling device, may be connected to the Company's public switched telephone network utilizing a specialized jack purchased by the customer from any supplier. A PADAS customer is solely responsible for the installation, operation and maintenance of PADAS customer-provided equipment. There are no specific charges associated with this service in item 180, and other charges that may be associated with customer-provided PADAS equipment, such as those for line conditioning or hourly rates for jack installation, are covered in other existing Company tariffs.

The Commission received no comments with respect to the application.

The Commission approves TCI's application. The revisions take effect as of the date of this order.
