The Commission will hold a public hearing commencing on 18 November 2002 at 9:00 a.m., at the Commission Headquarters, 1 Promenade du Portage, Gatineau, Quebec, to consider the following. The intervention deadline is 24 October 2002. |

Application by CHUM LIMITED for a licence to operate a transitional digital television undertaking associated with its existing TV station CITY-TV Toronto. |

The new station would operate from the CN Tower on channel 53C with an effective radiated powerof 600 watts. |

The applicant proposes to simulcast the current programming service of CITY-TV except to provide up to 14 hours per week of programming that is not duplicated on the analog service. |
||
The Commission's policy requires that all of this unduplicated programming be in the high definition format and that Canadian programs aired during the evening broadcast period, whether duplicated or not, are to be broadcast in the HDTV version, where such a version exists. |

The Commission will only proceed with this application at the public hearing if advised by the Department of Industry, at least ten days prior to the hearing, that it is technically acceptable. |

The new station in Lloydminster would operate on frequency 95.9 MHz (channel 240C1) with an effective radiated power of 100,000 watts and the transmitter in Bonnyville would operate on frequency 101.3 MHz (channel 267B) with an effective radiated power of 25,000 watts. |

The applicant is requesting permission to simulcast the programming of CKSA on the AM band for a period of six months from the date of implementation. |

This application requires the issuance of a new licence. |

The applicant intends to provide the same program format as is currently offered on the AM station. |

The new station would operate on frequency 99.3 MHz (channel 257B) with an effective radiated power of 9,300 watts. |
||
The applicant is requesting permission to simulcast the programming of CKPG on the AM band for a period of three months from the date of implementation. |
||
The Commission will only proceed with this application at the public hearing if advised by the Department of Industry, at least ten days prior to the hearing, that it is technically acceptable. |
||
