Re: Public Notice CRTC 2002-2: 900 Service - Agreements and Consumer Safeguards

  1. In its letter dated 19 June 2002, the Public Interest Advocacy Centre (PIAC), on behalf of ARC et al, requested an extension of the deadline for reply comments set out in the Commission's letter of 17 May 2002. PIAC makes this request so as to better accommodate the summer holiday season.
  2. In its request for this modification, PIAC submitted that the current deadline for reply comments in this proceeding is 29 July 2002, seven business days after the date for comments (18 July 2002). PIAC noted that this is "prime holiday season" so that many individuals involved may be away during this time and therefore unable to submit reply comments to the comments filed by 18 July. This is the case for PIAC counsel.
  3. PIAC also submitted that there would be no prejudice to any party as a result of such an extension.
  4. In view of the foregoing, Commission staff considers the request for an extension of the deadline for reply comments reasonable, given the public interest in the establishment of a full record upon which to base the proceedings.
  5. Accordingly, the process as set out in Public Notice 2002-2 and amended by the Commission's letter of 17 May 2002 is amended as follows:

Paragraph 22:

Interested parties who have responded to the interrogatories may file reply comments with regard to consumer safeguards and TNs 740 and 741, and other interested parties may file reply comments with regard to consumer safeguards, serving copies on all parties, by 9 August 2002.

Where a document is to be filed or served by a specific date, the document must be actually received, not merely sent, by that date.

Yours sincerely,

Shirley Soehn
Executive Director
