Applications by BELL GLOBEMEDIA on behalf of The NHL Network Inc. and The Sports Network Inc. (TSN) to amend the licences of the Category 2 nationalspecialty television services known as The NHL Network (formerly The Hockey Network) and ESPN Classic Canada (formerly Classic Sports), and the licence of the Category 1 national specialty television service known as WTSN, (formerly Women's Sports Network).


The licensee proposes to change the condition of licence relating to the definition of the broadcast day which reads: "a 24-hour period beginning at 6 a.m. each day," by the following condition: "a 24-hour period beginning at 00:00:00."


The licensee states that "currently, CTV's other sports specialty services with 24-hour broadcast day definitions all begin their log reporting day at 00:00:00 for operating and administrative purposes only. This change will in no way affect the programming nor the licensing requirements of these services."

The licensee proposes to broadcast programs to serve Montreal's South Asian communities predominantly in Hindi, Urdu and Punjabi, using a Subsidiary Communications Multiplex Operations (SCMO) channel. Programming broadcast using an SCMO is not accessible with standard radio equipment, and requires the use of a special receiver.
