Pursuant to Public Notice CRTC 2001-34, we are seeking further clarification regarding the transmission of calling party identification. Please find attached supplementary interrogatories concerning this matter.

ATTACHMENT

For Call-Net and AT&T

  1. Identify the incumbent telephone company services that the company uses for line-side termination of interexchange toll traffic. For each service provide the quantity subscribed to by the company and the number of lines that are derived.
  2. Assume that the company is ordered to implement the transit of CALLING PARTY NUMBER and the privacy indicator transmitted from a call's originating switch to the terminating switch at all times.
    1. Provide details regarding the company's current ability to transmit the CALLING PARTY NUMBER and the privacy indicator for each ILEC service that the company uses for line-side termination of toll calls;
    2. Indicate the number of line-side-toll-termination points that cannot transmit CALLING PARTY NUMBER to call recipients as a percentage of the total number of line-side-toll-termination points;
    3. Where the company is not able to transmit the CALLING PARTY NUMBER and the privacy indicator, provide cost estimates and the expected timeline for its implementation; and
    4. Provide the company's views regarding responsibility for the recovery of the costs estimated in (c) above.
  3. Identify any other services used by the company for terminating toll traffic where the CALLING PARTY NUMBER and the privacy indicator received from a call's originating switch is not delivered to the terminating switch. For each of the services identified provide cost estimates and the expected timeline for implementing the capability of transmitting CALLING PARTY NUMBER and the privacy indicator.

For AT&T

In a letter dated 6 July 2001, AT&T stated that it "expects to be in full compliance with the terms and conditions found in Bell Canada General Tariff Item 1800.2(e) as it continues to upgrade its network." Provide a description of the upgrades underway and provide an estimate of the date by which the upgrades will be completed.
