Subject:  Decision CRTC 2000-745 - Changes to the contribution regime - 2001 Reconciliation of Contribution between Per-minute and Revenue-based Regime

In Decision CRTC 2000-745, the Commission changed the contribution regime from a per-minute collection mechanism to a revenue-based mechanism effective 1 January 2001. The Decision provided for a transition period whereby contribution would continue to be paid on a per-minute basis until 31 March 2001 with a reconciliation process to follow.

As indicated in Order CRTC 2001-338, the reconciliation procedures were approved by the Commission on an interim basis. Modifications to the procedures as a result of consultation with the industry can be found at:

http://www.crtc.gc.ca/cisc/eng/cisf4g2.htm

If you paid contribution during this transition period, the Local Exchange Carrier (LEC) to whom you have paid contribution will be in contact with you in order to facilitate the reconciliation process. As indicated in the procedures, TSPs are required to assist the LEC in this process which is to be completed by 30 June 2001.
