Conversion of a Regina AM station to FM |
|
This decision is one of four issued today that restructure the ownership of the commercial radio stations in Regina. An overview of the implicationsof these decisions is provided in Public Notice CRTC 2001-118 Introductory statement to Decisions CRTC 2001-738 to 2001-741: Restructuring commercial radio in Regina. |

The Commission approves the application for a new English-language FM radio station at Regina to replace the current radio station operating on the frequency 1300 kHz (AM band). The terms and conditions of licence are set out in the appendix to this decision. |

The new station will offer an Adult Contemporary format targeted to those ranging in age from 24 to 54. Major news, weather and sports packages will be broadcast during morning and afternoon drive periods, supplemented by short newscasts at other times during the broadcast day. Newscasts will focus primarily on local events. |

Appendix to Decision CRTC 2001- 741 |

Terms of the licence for the FM English-language radio programming undertaking at Regina |

The Commission will only issue the licence, and it will only be effective at such time as: |

The licence, when issued, will expire 31 August 2008. |
|
The station will broadcast on the FM band, on the frequency 94.5 MHz, channel 233C, with an effective radiated power of 100,000 watts. |
|
The Commission notes that this licensee is subject to the Employment Equity Act and therefore files reports concerning employment equity with Human Resources Development Canada. |
|
Condition of licence |
|
The licence will be subject to the conditions for FM stations set out in Public Notice CRTC 1999-137. |
