Ottawa, 1 May 2001

Bell Canada 2001 price cap - Contract options for Megalink PSTN connectivity

Reference: Tariff Notice 6577

The Commission approves Bell Canada's request to introduce contract options for the public switched telephone network (PSTN) connectivity component of Megalink service.

1.

Bell Canada proposed to introduce contract options for the PSTN connectivity component of the Megalink service. Contracts would be available for one- to five-year terms at a discount to the current monthly rate.

2.

The Commission notes that the proposed rates pass the imputation test and enable the company to meet its 2001 price cap obligations.

3.

Bell Canada submitted its annual price-cap filing on 6 April 2001 to revise Item 5201 of its General Tariff.

4.

The revisions take effect on 4 May 2001.
