Re: Implementation of Competition in the local exchange and local payphone markets in the territories of Télébec and TELUS (Québec), Public Notice CRTC 2001-69, 14 June 2001

Dear Sir or Madam:

  1. It is noted that the procedures outlined in the above-noted PN required TELUS (Québec) and Télébec to file submissions, with detailed supporting assumptions and calculations, and serve copies on all interested parties by 12 September 2001.
  2. In a letter dated 4 September 2001, TELUS (Québec) requests, among other things, that all of the deadlines included in the procedure be moved forward by approximately six months. Télébec supported TELUS (Québec)'s request in a letter dated 6 September 2001.
  3. In a letter dated 12 September 2001, the Commission advised all interested parties of the extension request and noted that the request implicates several other proceedings currently before the Commission. As such, the Commission indicated that its review of TELUS (Québec)'s request was still ongoing but that the due date for TELUS (Québec) and Télébec's submissions was postponed until further notice.
  4. This letter is to invite your comments, within 10 days, on the appropriateness of the Commission granting TELUS (Québec)'s request that all of the deadlines included in the procedure be moved forward by approximately six months.

Yours truly,

Shirley Soehn
