Re: Decision CRTC 2000-745
Final 2001 revenue-percent charge for contribution

This letter is to inform the Telecommunications Service Providers (TSPs) that the determination of the final 2001 revenue-percent charge for the contribution regime has been postponed.

In Decision 2000-745, the Commission indicated that once the final 2001 revenue-percent charge is approved, the Central Fund Administrator will be required to reconcile the total amount collected to date from each company and the amount that would have been paid as if the final percent charge had been in effect since 1 January 2001. The Commission set out this reconciliation process with the intent of ensuring that the final revenue charge collects the appropriate amount of subsidy.

In its review of the 2000 actual financial information filed by the TSPs, Commission staff has identified reporting inconsistencies in the calculation of the contribution-eligible revenues and is requesting that some TSPs re-file revised financial information. Therefore, to ensure that the intent of the reconciliation process set out in Decision 2000-745 is achieved, the Commission will await the revised financial information from the TSPs prior to finalizing the 2001 revenue-percent charge.

Yours sincerely,

Scott Hutton
Director, Efficiency and Expenditure Analysis
