Re: Access to basic listing interchange file service
for alternate operator service providers (AOSPs)

Dear Sir or Madam:

In Order CRTC 2001-281, Access to directory file service and basic listing interchange file service approved for CanopCo, dated 5 April 2001, the Commission ordered, among other things at paragraph 17 d), all incumbent local exchange carriers (ILECs) and competitive local exchange carriers (CLECs) to show cause within 30 days why they should not provide access to basic listing interchange file (BLIF) to alternate operator service providers (AOSPs) for the sole purpose of providing directory assistance. Corrections to Order 2001-281 were issued on 27 April and 14 June 2001, whereby the independent telephone companies (ITCs) that offer directory file service (DFS) and CLECs were requested by the Commission to show cause why they should not provide access to BLIF to AOSPs for the sole purpose of providing directory assistance.

No objections were filed.

The Commission, therefore, orders all ILECs, ITCs that offer DFS, and CLECs to issue, within 30 days, amendments to their BLIF tariff, and modify their license agreement, to provide access to AOSPs for the sole purpose of providing directory assistance.

Yours sincerely,

Ursula Menke
Secretary General
