Re: Decision CRTC 2000-745 - Final 2001 percentages for the distribution of contribution revenues collected

On 30 November 2000, the Commission issued Decision CRTC 2000-745, Changes to the contribution regime. In this decision, the Commission replaced the per-minute contribution mechanism with a national contribution collection mechanism based on revenues from all telecommunications service providers. The new mechanism was effective as of 1 January 2001.

In paragraph 132 of Decision 2000-745, the Commission noted that percentages of total monthly contribution revenues to be collected were derived from the estimated contribution requirements for 2001.

In paragraph 83, the Commission also stated that the final 2001 subsidy requirement will be based upon the estimated 2001 contribution revenues that would have been collected under the existing per-minute mechanism and updated Phase III contribution requirements for Québec-Téléphone (now known as TELUS Communications (Québec) Inc.) and Télébec ltée.

Given that the Commission has recently approved the final 2001 contribution requirements for TELUS Québec in Order CRTC 2001-641, TELUS Québec final 2001 contribution requirement and rate, dated 10 August 2001 and Télébec in Order CRTC 2001-598, Télébec final 2001 contribution requirement and rate, dated 26 July 2001, the Commission can now finalize the 2001 percentages for the distribution of contribution revenues collected.

Therefore, the Commission finalizes the percentages listed in the attached table.
