Decision CRTC 2001-589

Ottawa, 14 September 2001

Ms. Kathleen McNair
Vice President Regulatory Affairs
Corus Entertainment Inc.
Suite 1630 - 181 Bay Street
BCE Place
Toronto, ON
M5J 2T3

Dear Ms. McNair:

Re: Application No. 200108565 - Approved
Change in ownership
: A change modifying the proposed structure of "The Canadian Documentary Channel", a new category 1 specialty television service, from a corporation to be incorporated to "The Canadian Documentary Channel Partnership" involving YTV Canada Inc., the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, and five other partners, at the same level of participation

The Commission approves the above-noted application for authority to effect a modification from a corporation to be incorporated to "The Canadian Documentary Channel Partnership", whereby YTV Canada Inc. and the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation will become the general partners and licensees, along with five limited partners (listed in the attachment), of the new category 1 specialty television service to be known as "The Canadian Documentary Channel".

The Commission notes that in its Decision 2000-455 (dated December 14, 2000), it awarded a category 1 digital specialty service to Corus Entertainment Inc. (Corus), on behalf of a corporation to be incorporated. The ownership structure was subsequently modified to a general partnership (The Canadian Documentary Channel Partnership) consisting of the initially proposed shareholders at the same level of participation.

The Commission will modify its ownership records to reflect the partnership interests held in "The Canadian Documentary Channel" as shown in the attached appendix.

All letters of approval issued by the Commission are made available for public examination at the Commission's central office. The Commission also requires you to append this letter to your licence.

Yours sincerely,

Ursula Menke
Secretary General
