|
New religious FM radio programming undertaking |
|
1. |
The Commission approves the application for a new low-power English-language FM religious radio station at Rimbey. The terms and conditions of licence are set out in the appendix to this decision. |
2. |
The new station will broadcast a live audio feed of the Church of the Nazarene of Rimbey's Sunday morning services to local shut-ins, hospital patients and other people who are unable to attend church. The station will broadcast a minimum of 5 hours of local programming in each broadcast week. |
3. |
Approximately 90% of the programming offered by the station will be spoken word and about 10% will be devoted to non-classic religious music performed at the services by community artists. The applicant will not broadcast any advertising. |
4. |
The Commission emphasizes that the applicant must not broadcast the programming of any other programming undertaking, and that the programming that it broadcasts must meet the needs of the community it serves. |
5. |
In accordance with the Religious broadcasting policy, the licence will be subject to conditions on the nature of programming, the recognition of alternative values and the importance of balance on matters of public concern (PN 1993-78). These conditions of licence are set out in the appendix to this decision. |
6. |
The Commission acknowledges the interventions submitted in support of this application. |
