Licence to carry on a new television network |

The Commission approves the application by CTV Television Inc. for a licence to carry on a new, English-language television programming network. The new network will operate for the purpose of providing programming to Thunder Bay Electronics Inc., Norcom Communications Limited, and Mid-West Television Ltd. These are the licensees, respectively, of the English-language television stations CHFD-TV Thunder Bay, CJBN-TV Kenora and of CITL-TV Lloydminster and its transmitters. |

The Commission will issue CTV Television Inc. a licence to be in effect from 1 September 2001 to 31 August 2008. The licence will be subject to the conditions set out therein. |

The new network will provide news and sports programming, and may also originate some non-news, non-sports, entertainment programming for delivery to the three stations. |

The Commission notes that this licensee is subject to the Employment Equity Act and therefore files reports concerning employment equity with Human Resources Development Canada. |
