Licence renewal for CHNC and its transmitter CHGM |

The Commission renews the broadcasting licence for CHNC New Carlisle, and its transmitter CHGM Gaspé, from 1 September 2001 to 31 August 2005, subject to the conditions specified in the licence to be issued, as also set out in Public Notice CRTC 1999-137. |

This four-year term will enable the Commission to assess, at an earlier date, the licensee's compliance with the Radio Regulations, 1986 (the regulations) concerning the broadcast of French-language vocal music. |

Compliance concerns |

During the current licence term, the Commission requested the logger tapes and other material related to the programming broadcast by CHNC during the week of 9 to 15 May 1999. The Commission's analysis revealed that, during the week in question, the licensee had not complied with the requirement of the regulations regarding the broadcast of French-language vocal music. |
|
The Commission has noted the corrective measures that have since been implemented by the licensee. |
|
The Commission reiterates that the licensee must take the necessary measures to ensure that it is in compliance at all times with the regulations. |
|
The Commission encourages the licensee to consider employment equity issues in its hiring practices and in all other aspects of its management of human resources (Public Notice CRTC 1992-59). |
|
The Commission has examined the submission filed by the Association québécoise de l'industrie du disque, du spectacle et de la vidéo (ADISQ) regarding this licence renewal application. |
