New low-power tourist information service |
|
The Commission approves the application for a new low-power English-language FM radio station at Campbell River. The terms and conditions of licence are set out in the appendix to this decision. |
|
1. |
The applicant proposes a tourist information service that will provide historical information on Campbell River; listings of parks, camp sites and events; information on tourist attractions, the B.C. ferry service, boating and safety; as well as phone listings for information on traffic and weather. |
2. |
Programming will consist of one hour of pre-recorded messages repeated continuously over a 24-hour period. The service will operate on a year-round basis. |
3. |
In its licensing policy for low-power radio broadcasting undertakings, the Commission indicated that the licences for these undertakings would be subject to conditions that would define programming so as to ensure that licensees do not begin to offer the same service as a conventional licensee, without prior Commission approval (PN 1993-95). These conditions are set out in the appendix to this decision. |
