TELETOON POP

 

On 24 November 2000, the Commission approved a Category 2 specialty television service to be known as TELETOON POP. The terms and conditions generally applicable to Category 2 services are set out in the public notice accompanying this and other decisions released today.

 


Conditions of licence

 

The licence, when issued, will expire 31 August 2007 and will be subject to the following conditions as well as to those set out in both Public Notice CRTC 2000-171 andin the licence to be issued.

 


Nature of service


 

a) The licensee shall provide a national Category 2 specialty television service with both English- and French-language feeds. The service will present non-narrative animation programming from Canada and around the world, including animation with non-narrative story lines set to music.

 

b) The programming must be drawn exclusively from the following categories, as set out in Schedule I to the Specialty Services Regulations, 1990:
1, 2a, 2b,3, 4, 5a, 5b, 6a, 6b, 7a, 7b, 7c, 7d, 7e, 7f, 7g, 8a, 8b, 8c, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15.

 

c) With the exception of material drawn from categories 12 and 15, no less than 90% of all programming broadcast during the broadcast week shall be animated programs drawn from categories 7e and 7g, as set out in Schedule I to the Specialty Services Regulations, 1990.

 

c) No more than 10% of all programming broadcast during the broadcast week shall be non-animated programs drawn from categories other than 7e, 7g, 12 or 15.

 


Definitions

 

Broadcast day shall have the same meaning as that out in section 2 of the Television Broadcasting Regulations, 1987.
