The Commission has received the following applications:
ATLANTIC AND QUEBEC REGION / RÉGION DE L’ATLANTIQUE ET DU QUÉBEC
1. CHETICAMP, Nova Scotia
Application (199918158) by ACADIAN COMMUNICATIONS LIMITED, P.O. Box 308, Cheticamp, Nova Scotia, B0E 1H0.
The licensee of the radiocommunication distribution undertaking serving Cheticamp proposes to add transmitters to distribute the encrypted (scrambled) signals of Country Music Television (CMT), The Discovery Channel and WGN-TV Chicago, Illinois.
To distribute the new services to its customers, Acadian Communications proposes to use three additional channels (16, 50 and 55), each with a transmitter power of 20 watts.

2. MOOSE JAW, Saskatchewan
Application (200001917) by GOLDEN WEST BROADCASTING LTD., P.O. Box 950, Centre Avenue, Altona, Manitoba, R0G 0B0.
Golden West was granted a licence to operate a new FM radio station at Moose Jaw in Decision CRTC 99-473. That licence was subject to conditions related to the station’s musical format that is, that the station be operated in the Specialty format, and the station broadcast a minimum of 33% from music categories other than category 21 (Pop, Rock and Dance) and 22 (Country and Country-oriented) within its overall music programming.
The licensee seeks the deletion of the conditions of licence related to operation in the Specialty format, and the replacement of them with the following new condition of licence:
1. The licensee shall not operate the station within the Specialty format as defined in Public Notice CRTC 1995-60, or as amended from time to time.
If the application is approved, the station would be free to broadcast any mix of music, so long as at least 70% is drawn from the Pop, Rock and Dance and/or Country categories.

Application (200001900) by GOLDEN WEST BROADCASTING LTD., P.O. Box 950, Centre Avenue, Altona, Manitoba, R0G 0B0.
Golden West was granted a licence to operate a new FM radio station at Winkler in Decision CRTC 99-472. Under the terms of its licence, the station was free to broadcast any music, so long as at least 70% was Pop, Rock and Dance and/or Country.
The licensee seeks authority to operate the new station in the Specialty format, meaning any mix of music, where less than 70% is Pop, Rock and Dance and/or Country. Golden West also specified that at least one-third of the music will be from other than those generally popular categories.
The requested change would require the deletion of the current condition of licence related to format, and the application of two new conditions of licence, as follows:
1. The licensee shall operate the station within the Specialty format as defined in Public Notice CRTC 1995-60, or as amended from time to time.
2. The licensee shall ensure that a minimum of 33% of all music broadcast be drawn from categories other than 21 (Pop, Rock and Dance) and 22 (Country and Country-Oriented).
