The Commission has received the following application: | |

Application (200002022) by the NATIONAL BROADCAST READING SERVICE INC. (VoicePrint). | |
This application is a request to: | |
1. Amend the VoicePrint licence to allow distribution of the VoicePrint service as a "Secondary Audio Program" (SAP) service. A SAP service is carried alongside a television signal as an alternative to the standard audio that accompanies the video portion of a television program. Listeners can then choose this secondary audio signal through either a television equipped to receive SAP or through a special decoder. | |
2. Direct Class 1 and Class 2 Broadcasting Distribution Undertakings (this includes cable television, direct-to-home satellite and Multi-point Distribution System services) to distribute the VoicePrint Audio Programming Service in conjunction with the CBC Newsworld Programming Service as a SAP service. | |
3. Authorize a $0.01 per subscriber, per month rate for the carriage of the VoicePrint service to be paid to National Broadcast Reading Service Inc. on a "pass-through" basis. No mark-up would be available to Broadcasting Distribution Undertakings for carriage of this service. |
